Lok Sabha elections 2019: Over 1,200 voters boycott polls in UP's Hathras district
AGRA: Residents of two villages, Gadhi Harbal and Bandipur, in Hathras district boycotted voting on Thursday.
In Gadhi Harbal village, about 820 voters staged a protest and boycotted elections. They claimed that no development work was done in their village. One of the residents Chaudhary Maan Singh said that no public representative or administrative officials visited their village.
"If they don’t care for the development of our village, why should we cast our votes for them," he said.

However, after the intervention of Sadabad SDM Jyotsana Bandhu, six people exercised their franchise. The SDM assured to resolve their pending issues relating to roads and other things. She told media that no one visited her in the past six months, but now she would take up the issue with the DM and resolve it immediately.

In Bandipur village, about 400 voters boycotted polling in pursuance to their demand of compensation for their crops that were damaged after a high tension wire fell in their field on Wednesday. Residents of the village claimed that crops in 25 bighas field were burnt due to the carelessness of the power department.

Bhupendra, a resident of this village, said that the entire village woud not cast their votes till administrative officials promise to give the compensation.
