Aligarh mayor appeals to people to vote against communal forces

mayor from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mohd Furkan released a video on the day of the second phase of polls appealing people to vote for the

SP-BSP-RLD alliance

candidate in order to safeguard the secular character of the country.

He said that this election is very important as it will decide the fate of the country. “To stop communal forces from coming to power, I want to appeal to Aligarh residents to vote in favour of an alliance candidate,” he said.

“We don’t have any personal differences with anyone,” he said, adding that the way Aligarh residents voted for him, they should do it again to save the nation from communal forces. He added that this election result will decide whether power will be in the hands of secular or communal forces.

supremo Mayawati

, who assured that AMU's status would not be changed if the alliance is voted to power.

Meanwhile, president of AMU Students union Salman Imtiaz also released a video urging voters to vote against the fascist forces. “Make a contribution in development of nation,” he said.

Earlier, in a day after casting his vote, sitting MP and BJP candidate from Aligarh Satish Gautam said that reservation will be provided to Dalits and backwards in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He said, if any kind of issue arises in doing the same, a new university will be formed.

He further said that Jinnah’s portrait will be removed from the university soon.
