PM Modi and K Chandrasekhar Rao in tango, criticising each other to fool voters: Congress
HYDERABAD: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took pot-shots at each other, AICC general secretary in charge of Telangana RC Khuntia said on Saturday that both are two sides of the same coin and are criticising each other only to fool the voters.
“With surveys indicating a Congress victory, KCR who supported Modi on every issue has now started criticising him,” he said. Referring to KCR’s statement that BJP is trying to derive political mileage out of surgical strikes while Congress-led UPA government had never tried to cash in on it, Khuntia said Congress will launch surgical strikes against poverty with minimum income guarantee scheme immediately after being voted to power.
“Modi criticised KCR terming him a ‘believer of astrology’. Even KCR termed those promoting communal hatred ‘pseudo Hindus’ while criticising Modi. They both are lying. Congress is the only secular party which will ensure that people of all religions, regions, creed, caste, colour and all sections of society live harmoniously,” he said.
Indian Union Muslim League leader Imtiaz Hussain said their party has decided to extend support to Congress in Telangana to ensure that ‘anti-BJP’ and ‘anti-TRS’ vote is not divided.
Former MP and Congress candidate from Karimnagar Ponnam Prabhakar said if people give 16 MP seats to Congress, KCR would leave his camp office and farmhouse and start coming to secretariat. “KCR has started responding to the woes of farmers after losing three MLC seats and he will start coming to the secretariat if TRS loses 16 seats,” Prabhakar told reporters in Karimnagar.
Meanwhile, Komatireddy brothers, who intensified their campaign in Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha constituency, said KCR and TRS working president KT Rama Rao should contest and win against them.
Munugode MLA and Congress in-charge for Bhuvanagiri, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, said this while referring to KCR and KTR terming Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as an ‘invalid coin’ of Nalgonda. KTR said Venkat Reddy who lost in Nalgonda assembly segment in December 2018 polls was as good as an invalid coin, which would not be accepted in Bhuvanagiri.
Venkat Reddy called upon the people to realise that this election was mainly to elect the Prime Minister and decide the future of the country and, as such, they should vote for Congress to make Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister and also ensure that a secular government rules India.
