Owaisis supressed facts in nominations: BJP leader
HYDERABAD: Alleging that the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidates from Hyderabad, Asaduddin and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, suppressed facts in their election nomination papers, BJP candidate from the constituency,
In a complaint lodged with the Hyderabad Lok Sabha returning officer on Tuesday, the BJP candidate said MIM chief Asaduddin mentioned that he and his wife were voters in Rajendranagar assembly segment in Chevella Lok Sabha constituency.
But, he said, both of them were registered voters of Khairtabad (No. 186) assembly segment, too.
“He manages to get double votes by suppressing the information before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) which amounts to violation of election laws,” he said. Even if the election authorities accept his nomination, it amounts to improper acceptance of nomination under section 100(1)(d)(i) of the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1951.
“Even his property at Shashtripuram was undervalued. While the original market value of the four acre property is about Rs 60 crore, it was shown as Rs 11 crore. The two brothers filed nominations as candidates of MIM with false data,” he said.
