2 Janasena Party nominees out to ‘shock’their opponents
HYDERABAD: Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party, which is fighting a tough battle in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, believes its first-time candidates in Malkajgiri and Secunderabad Lok Sabha seats would pull it off against their fancied rivals. The party thinks its ‘bijli, sadak aur paani’ (electricity, roads and water) plank is just enough to work magic, as it did not even bother to announce a manifesto in Telangana. The party is in the fray in only two constituences in the state.
B Mahender Reddy, who is testing his luck from Malkajgiri, and N Shankar Goud from Secunderabad are banking on local issues to see them through. Lack of water, sanitation, amenities in railway stations, upgradation of Secunderabad station into world-class standards, road-widening and removal of encroachments on open nalas are some of the immediate topics both Mahender and Shankar are highlighting during their campaigning.
“A lion’s share of MPLADS funds will be allotted to tackle civic issues. I will also work towards completing skyways and other projects with SCR if I am elected as an MP,” Mahender told TOI. As JSP’s glass tumbler symbol is new for voters, Mahenders visits houses holding a tumbler in his hand. “I am very confident of winning Malkajgiri seat. I got a positive feedback after completing campaign in seven assembly constituencies,” he added.
Mahender and Shankar are not only enjoying support of party cadre but also of fans of Pawan Kalyan, his brother Chiranjeevi and nephew Ram Charan Tej. Shankar himself is a big fan of Pawan Kalyan and is promising to solve a whole lot of issues to voters if they elect him. He also assures people to make efforts to upgrade Gandhi Hospital into an AIIMS. “I am sure of winning as I have gained the trust of voters during my padayatras in the constituency,” he says.
