If it’s a hung House, we’ll be there to stop BJP, says MK Stalin
DMK chief MK Stalin on Tuesday categorically ruled out supporting the BJP if the election results throw up a hung Parliament and reiterated his support for Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister.
In an interview to TOI, Stalin said, “If there is a hung Parliament, we will thwart all efforts of the BJP to form the government. We will form a secular government.”
“Our goal is to defeat the fascist BJP government and form a government headed by Congress chief Rahul Gandhi. In case of a hung Parliament, we will take a call after consulting the Congress, Left and other parties,” Stalin said, adding that regional parties would play a major role in this election.
“After Jayalalithaa’s death, people have been asking us why we have not brought this government [in the state] down. We want to do it only through a democratic process. Byelections to 22 seats give us a chance to unseat this government. We will fulfil people’s wish,” he said.
Asked if the DMK would form the government, if it had the numbers, or seek dissolution of the assembly, Stalin said, “We will take a decision after consulting alliance partners. Edappadi’s is a minority government. It remains in office only because of the Centre’s support. Elections will bring about a change both at the Centre as well as in the state.”
