Stalin also claimed that the AIADMK candidates facing the ensuing general election are being questioned and chased away by the locals who are disappointed over the performance of the AIADMK MPs.

“Can Edappadi Palaniswami list the achievements of 37 AIADMK MPs? Have the MPs echoed the State's demands in the parliament? Or at least, have they helped the state to obtain the funds awaited from the centre? AIADMK should list the benefits TN attained during the tenure of 37 AIADMK MPs,” Stalin told the gathering at Uzhavar Sandhai ground in Trichy. Referring to the incidents of public backlash faced by the AIADMK candidates in Karur and Kanchipuram Lok Sabha constituencies, Stalin said that anti-incumbency mood prevails among the voters. Hailing that the election manifesto released by the Congress party reflects the intentions of Dravidian movement such as the focus on ensuring State’s rights and autonomy, the former deputy chief minister said, “If DMK’s stalwarts C N Annadurai and M Karunanidhi were alive, they would have appreciated Rahul Gandhi for releasing such a manifesto.”

As the DMK’s chief speech dragged on for over 45 minutes, cadres who were seated under the scorching weather were seen leaving the venue even before Stalin concluded his speech.
