Ensuring win in general elections for NDA will be true tribute to Amma: Piyush Goyal
TUTICORIN: Union minister Piyush Goyal has said that ensuring a win for the NDA alliance in the Lok Sabha election would be the real tribute to the memory of ‘Amma’. He was campaigning for BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundarajan at Kovilpatti on Wednesday.
‘Puratchi Thalaivi Amma’ was like a sister to him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She was a true nationalist who cared for the people of Tamil Nadu, Goyal said.
“Though we all miss her deeply, it will be a true tribute to Amma if we ensure a victory for the NDA alliance,” he said. The minister said that the country had a strong leader to fight terrorism today, but the corrupt Congress and DMK leaders, instead of supporting our armed forces, were indirectly supporting terrorists and Pakistan by questioning the bravery of the armed forces.
Goyal said the election in Tuticorin was a fight between a social worker and a corrupt person.
He said he was sure that the people would not make the mistake of electing a corrupt MP who was accused in the 2G scandal. Goyal appealed to the people to give a huge victory to the NDA alliance in all the 40 constituencies including Tuticorin where Tamilisai Soundararajan was contesting, as well as the candidate for Vilathikulam by-elections, Chinnappan.
On her part, Tamilisai said that the people were confident that the Congress-DMK-MDMK alliance would lose because Vaiko was in the alliance. DMK president Stalin asked what had the BJP government done for Tamil Nadu.
Listing out projects such as AIIMS in Madurai and in Tirupur and Kanyakumari districts, Tamilisai asked whether Stalin thought that these places were in Japan.
Calling herself the daughter of the soil, Tamilisai said Kanimozhi was an imported candidate.
Later, Goyal also campaigned for the NDA alliance candidate and Puthiya Tamilagam leader K Krishnasamy contesting in Tenkasi parliamentary constituency as well as BJP candidate Pon Radhakrishnan in Kanyakumari.
