Power cuts irk Digvijaya, says it is a BJP conspiracy
BHOPAL
: Frustrated over the frequent tripping of electricity during his public meeting, Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh on Monday trained his gun on the BJP accusing it of sabotage and holding it responsible for the power cuts.He said a complaint would be lodged against officials responsible for it and action would be taken.
Issue began when power went off while Singh was addressing the gathering. He said wherever he goes, power cuts are following him. “This is being done deliberately,” said Singh. He then ended the meeting stating “let us resolve this issue first.”
Later, he asked for the electricity official present at the meeting and an assistant engineer came before him. Singh categorically asked, “Is there any load shedding in this area.?” The officer replied, “No sir, there is no power outage.”
The officer told him there was no scheduled load shedding for the area. On hearing this, a visibly furious Singh asked the official, “If there was no such power cut, then how come tripping is happening during my public meetings. Such disruptions are taking place when the state is power surplus.”
In reply, the officer said, “I will probe the matter and let you know.” Singh was not happy from his reply and said, “I do not care about technical issue. My only concern is regular power cuts during campaign.”
Resuming his address to the gathering, Singh said, “It is BJP’s appointed outsourced company which is deliberately creating the outage malign the image of state government. I will not let this happen. Responsible officers will have to answer.”
He added that BJP is indulging in sabotage. “They start sending text messages after their ‘supporters’ disrupt power. It is nothing but an attempt to damage the image of the party.”
