Poll ads: Congress seeks review of EC order
Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza addresses a press meet at PCC headquarters on Thursday.
BHOPAL: A delegation of state Congress leaders on Thursday afternoon went to the Election Commission (EC) office here and appealed that the rejection of the party's six campaign teasers and advertisements for the Lok Sabha be reconsidered and withdrawn. Last month the EC had rejected these advertisements that mocked the BJP's "ache din" slogan. The EC had rejected the teasers on two grounds - one, that it showed a mentally challenged person and two, the doctor in the ads used an injection syringe that had the tricolour. Before going to the EC office, state Congress media cell chairperson Shobha Oza and legal cell chief JP Dhanopia showed the advertisement to the media. "We see no reason why the campaign advertisements have been rejected. It seems as though the EC is under pressure from the BJP," Shobha Oza claimed. "What the EC calls is a mentally challenged person, is what we described as an andh bhakt of PM Narendra Modi. The ad says blind follower and "mitronia" as the disease."Congress claimed one of the campaign teasers in on the disappearance of the Rafale files. "The EC objected to it when we did not mention who robbed the file. We just made a teaser that the Rafale file was gone without naming who is responsible for it," Oza said. "We are going on appeal and are hopeful that the EC being an independent Constitutional body will grant permission for the teasers to used for Lok sabha election campaign," she added.
