No word yet on Indore, supporters rally around Tai on her 76th birthday

INDORE: Lok Sabha Speaker and Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan, who turned 76 on Friday, cut a cake at Satyanarayan Mandir as local BJP woman wing performed special prayers for well-being of Tai. “For last two decades, BJP woman wing has been performing special puja at Satyanarayan Mandir for wellbeing of Tai.
Due to her busy schedule as Lok Sabha Speaker, Mahajan could not attend the programme in last few years but on her 76th birthday, she was in Indore and participated in the event,” Indore president of BJP woman wing Padma Bhoje told TOI.

She added that on woman participants’ request, Tai also cut a cake in the temple.
“Though Tai has announced not to contest general elections, but as her supporters, we hope the party gives her the ticket. We want her to become President in years to come,” Bhoje said.
Later in the evening, around 50 BJP workers, led by former IDA chairman Shankar Lalwani and former MLA Sudarshan Gupta, organised a ‘Deep Prajvalan’ programme for her.
Participants recited ‘Happy Birthday Song’ and wished for the well-being of the senior BJP leader.
On her birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished Mahajan by posting a tweet — Birthday greetings to Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan Ji. As one of India’s senior most political leaders and parliamentarians, Sumitra Tai has made a rich contribution to India’s development and strengthening our democracy. Praying for her long and healthy life.
