BHOPAL: A voter turnout of 12.47% is reported in first two hours of polling in seven constituencies of Madhya Pradesh where voting started at 7 am on Monday.

"Of the total 12.47 % turnout reported till 9 am, 14.59% male voter is turnout and 10.11% female voter turnout," chief electoral officer Madhya Pradesh VL Kantha Rao said.

"A poll official had died during duty in Betul and a relief of Rs 15 lakh as per the norms would be provided", Rao said.

Rao also informed that due to technical snags 209

VVPAT machines

had to be replaced during mock polls before the commencement of polls.

Poll boycott has been reported at seven places each from Tikamgarh, Damon, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul district.

"Electoral officers have reached there and are pacifying voters, " Rao said.

Elections are going on in Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul constituencies of the state.

A total of 110 candidates are in the fray for the seven Lok Sabha seats.
