Lok sabha polls: 54.22% turnout reported till 3 pm in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: A voter turnout of 54.22% is reported till 3 pm in seven constituencies of

Madhya Pradesh

where voting started at 7 am on Monday.

"Of the total 54.22% turnout reported till 3 pm, 56.22% male voter turnout and 51.35% female voter turnout has been reported, " chief electoral officer Madhya Pradesh

VL Kantha Rao

said.

Till 3 pm highest turnout of 61.80% has been reported in

Betul constituency

and lowest was reported as 49.96% in

Rewa constituency

, he said.

Rao also informed that due to technical snags 209

VVPAT machines

had to be replaced during mock polls before the commencement of polls and till 3 pm 130 VVPAT machines had to be replaced.

Poll boycott has been reported at few places from Tikamgarh, Damoh and Hoshangabad districts.

"Electoral officers have reached there and are pacifying voters, " Rao said.

Elections are going on in Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul constituencies of the state.

A total of 110 candidates are in the fray for the seven Lok Sabha seats.
