Lok Sabha elections: 12.60% voting till 9 am in Madhya Pradesh

of 12.60% was reported in first two hours of polling in eight constituencies of Madhya Pradesh where voting started at 7 am on Sunday.

"Of the total 12.60% turnout reported till 9 am, 14.50% male voter turnout and 10.43% female voter turnout has been reported," said chief electoral officer Madhya Pradesh VL Kantha Rao.

"In Guna parliamentary constituency, a sector officer in sector 12 named AK Shrivastav was removed as he was seen leaving the polling booth in night and going to his home for taking dinner," Rao said.

Till 9 am, highest voter turnout of 16.33% was reported in Vidisha constituency and lowest 10.37% was reported in Gwalior constituency, Rao said. In Bhopal, 10.78% voter turnout was reported till 9 am, he said.

Rao also informed that due to technical snags, 243 VVPAT machines had to be replaced during mock polls before the commencement of vioting.
