Local Cong, BJP netas trade charges over manifesto

INDORE: Even though both BJP and Congress are yet to declare their candidates for Indore Lok Sabha constituency, the Congress manifesto released on Tuesday led to a debate among local leaders of the rival parties on Wednesday.
"The manifesto of Congress is like nectar for poor, farmers and youth of this country. Implementation of the document will help in development of all sections of society and put the country on right path," Congress city president Vinay Bakliwal said.
The city Congress also launched a theme song for polls, marking an official launch of its election campaigning. "The theme song will help in reaching out to maximum people and garner their support in Lok Sabha polls," Bakliwal said.
The manifesto, however, brought sharp response from local BJP leaders. Party city president Gopikrishna Nema and Indore Lok Sabha coordinator Ramesh Mendola along with other party leaders termed it as the 'dangerous' manifesto of all times.
"In the manifesto, Congress has promised to remove Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act. Its implementation will snatch power from the armed forces to strike against terrorists. What's the reason behind AICC using the language of terrorists, separatists and Pakistan's Prime Minister in its manifesto," the BJP leaders alleged in a press conference at the party office.
Party leader Sumitra Mahajan also held five meetings with party workers in different wards of Indore-III constituency on Wednesday.
