A former corporator in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna who lost his mother early on Monday went for her cremation only after the 19 members of his family went and voted in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls. While the family of Ashok Gupta mourned the loss of his mother and prepared to carry out the cremation, all eligible voters first went to the polling booth and cast their votes in the first hour.
Even the husband of the deceased accompanied his son to the booth to cast his vote. “Everyone in the family unanimously decided that elections come once in five years and it is our responsibility to vote, hence we decided to vote first,” said Kailash Gupta, grandson of deceased woman.
