3 independents file nominations in Indore
INDORE: Three independent candidates filed their nominations at district election office for contesting from Indore
Shailendra Sharma (40), a resident of Mhow in Dhar parliamentary constituency, was the first to file
Sharma was followed by 59-year-old Parmanand Tolani, who claims to have contested at least seven Lok Sabha elections, just to continue legacy of his father Methram Tolani. He is a resident of Veer Sawarkar Nagar.
“My father had contested over 10 elections between 1950 and 1988 in his life,” said Tolani claiming that he had contested 18 major elections including eight assembly polls.
“I have never tested victory. But, this time I have bright chances to win since Tai (Sumitra Mahajan) has not been given ticket and the candidates fielded by BJP and Congress are not that much active,” Tolani said. He urged the election office to allot him an election symbol from three choices – pen nib with seven rays, a farmer riding a tractor and biscuit.

“The process of filing nomination will continue till April 29, except holiday on April 27 and 28. Scrutiny of nominations will be carried out on April 30. The candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations by May 2. On the same day, election symbols will be allotted to candidates, who will remain in the fray,” district election officer Lokesh Kumar Jatav said.
Registered and recognized national and state political parties BJP, Indian National Congress, BSP, SP, CPI, CPM and TMC will get election symbols reserved for them. Remaining unrecognized political parties, which will field its candidates from Indore along with independent candidates, will be allotted an election symbol from the ECI’s list of 198 symbols, he added.
