Voters go green after getting inked

made this election an apt occasion to campaign for a green cause. They threw a challenge to all young voters to accept their challenge and

plant a sapling

was accepted by many nature lovers.

Roche posted a picture of a banner requesting voters to

exercise their franchise

and plant a sapling. “Dear voters, please plant a sapling to commemorate your voting this time. We don’t know if the candidate whom you voted for will offer you shade or not. However, it is sure that the sapling you plant will not betray you. It will provide you shade. Hence, plant a sapling after casting your vote,” Roche requested on Facebook.

Many of his friends accepted the challenge and planted saplings soon after voting.

Kasco Sharun said, “The green man of Mangaluru, Jeeth Milan Roche, we accepted your challenge and have planted two jackfruit saplings at Helipad today.”

Wilma Serrao, another green activist, said, “We did our part, and not to forget the challenge thrown by Jeeth Milan Roche, we brought home a lovely plant as we couldn’t plant a sapling. Cast your vote and plant a sapling, save nature.”

Members of a WhatsApp group that is spreading awareness in order to have a clean environment, too accepted the challenge to plant saplings. Members of the ‘NECF Power Bank’ WhatsApp group, accepted the novel campaign to motivate young voters to exercise their franchise and also to plant saplings to commemorate the occasion. Nagaraj Padavinangady, a member of the WhatsApp group, said he planted a sapling in his premises soon after voting. “Many of my friends too have planted saplings to keep the memory of voting alive,” he added.
