Looking for a hat-trick in Bengaluru Central, incumbent
PC Mohan
is banking on Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s popularity and performance of the NDA government at the Centre. He also hopes his constituents will recognise his contribution to the development of Bengaluru city during his 10-year tenure.
What makes you confident of winning thrice in a row?People appreciate the achievements of the Modi government. He has achieved in five years what successive governments couldn’t do in 70 years. My personal efforts in bringing projects like suburban rail to Bengaluru will help me win; the Centre allocated Rs 17,000 crore for this project. I developed a railway station, entirely from my MPLAD funds, the first of its kind in India.
What are your plans for the next five years? We need to implement the suburban rail project and Metro expansion should be done properly.
Would you take responsibility for Bengaluru city faring badly in the Clean City ranking? The state government and
BBMP
should take the blame as they’re the implementing agencies of schemes funded by the Centre. The city would have been clean and green had these agencies performed well. The main issue is that the present dispensation in the state is corrupt. The state government pushed the steel flyover project only to make money and dropped it due to public resistance. It then proposed the elevated corridor just ahead of the elections.
As widely perceived, do you have a tacit understanding with Prakash Raj?No comments. As a citizen, he’s entitled to fight the elections. My battle is with the Congress.
