Recall manifesto that is weak on resolve to combat terror, sedition: C T Ravi to Congress
MANGALURU: BJP state general secretary C T Ravi on Monday demanded that Congress recall its manifesto that promises to dilute sedition laws in the statute books and also take a relook at Armed Forces Special Powers Act if elected to power. This, he said, is imperative in that scourge of terror attacks has struck closer home in
Addressing reporters, Ravi said all nations must fight terror unitedly. In India, barring naxal and Pakistan sponsored attacks; there has been no civilian loss of lives in terror acts under PM Narendra Modi. The national security scenario in India is much safer under Modi than it was under the 10-year rule of UPA government, he said, adding move to dilute sedition laws and weakening AFSPA will only see India play in to hands of divisive forces.
On agitation that Congress-JD(S) launched over IT raids across the state, Ravi said it is clear that coalition partners were all geared up to indulge in election malpractice as evident from seizure of large amounts of cash from pocket boroughs of leaders of these parties and from the house of their close relatives. The government has cleared bills of five contractors even before they could complete the work and this has been done with a quid pro quo.
Noting that the bills cleared amounted to Rs 1344 crore, Ravi demanded that the government answer for this procedural irregularity, while demanding that agency empowered to probe such an issue, do so. “If not, it is only a matter of time that the present coalition government goes and the BJP government will undertake a full-fledged probe in to this release of money and many a Congress-JD(S) leaders will find themselves behind bars,” he warned.
Training guns of AICC chief Rahul Gandhi whose nomination papers has come under a cloud in Amethi, Ravi demanded that he answer questions raised over his multiple nationalities. “It is strange that the lawyers of Rahul Gandhi have sought time to reply to the same in response from queries from the returning officer for Amethi LS seat,” he said, adding Rahul Gandhi should clarify if Raul Vinci and Rahul Gandhi are different or same person.
