BENGALURU: Union minister and former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Friday said the Janata Dal (S)-Congress government would fall even before Lok Sabha election results on May 23. “It’ll fall soon after polling is over in Karnataka on April 23,” said Gowda, who is seeking reelection from Bengaluru North, at an interaction here.
Asked about the possibility of Operation Lotus intensifying after the polls, he said there was no need of it as the coalition government would fall on its own.
Regarding the criticism that he’s seeking votes in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name, he said Modi is a strong leader and one should be proud of asking for votes in his name. He slammed Congress leaders who say he’s outsider in Bengaluru North as his roots are in Sullia, Dakshina Kannada.
“Some frustrated people say these things as they have been ignominiously chased out of their home districts,” Gowda said, a reference to former chief minister Siddaramaiah who had lashed out at Gowda when he campaigned for Congress candidate Krishna Byregowda in Bengaluru North. “I’m a former chief minister and can contest from any constituency in Karnataka,” he added.
On BJP leader BL Santosh’s statement, in reference to the denial of ticket to Tejaswini Ananth Kumar that candidature would not be decided based on one’s DNA, Gowda said the high command’s decided to field Tejasvi Surya from Bengaluru South and he wouldn’t like to comment.
