'Fake Gandhi Family' neither believes in democracy within the party nor in constitutional posts: Himachal CM
SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday said that the Congress strongly believes that only a person from one family can become the prime minister.
Referring to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, the Himachal CM said it's unfortunate that the "fake Gandhi family" neither believes in democracy within the party nor in the constitutional posts. He said that Congress is a feudalistic party in which there is no tradition of handing over the leadership to Dalits and backward classes.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Jai Ram Thakur said that seeing defeat in these Lok Sabha elections, Congress leaders in utter desperation are trying to create a conflict in the society by playing the card of poison of casteism.

He said that Congress is insulting millions of people including backwards, dalits and weaker sections of the country by raising the question over the caste of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Congress party is not able to accept a prime minister from the poor and backward class background.
He said that Narendra Modi was born in a poor family of backward caste and reached the BJP's highest posts and then to the prime minister's post as the party (BJP) has the internal democracy. He said that BJP is a party of common man and this is why in the last Lok Sabha elections, it got heavy public support to make Narendra Modi the prime minister by rising above the politics of caste-based distinction.
He said that Congress fears a repeat of history. He advised the Congress to focus on the rights of the oppressed people of the society.
