GURUGRAM: The last day for filing of nominations saw 18 candidates submitting papers for the Gurugram seat, taking the total number to 36. The state will go to polls on May 12.

Accompanied by senior leader Gopi Chand Gehlot and party’s Nuh MLA Zakir Hussain, Rana said that good governance and infrastructure development are the major points the party is focusing on. “Gurugram constituency is a mix of rich, poor, urban and rural voters with a wide variety of issues. Sitting MP Rao Inderjit Singh has been representing Gurugram for 15 years now, but he has made no attempts to fix the problems. Similarly, Congress’ Capt Ajay Yadav has been six-time MLA, but did nothing for Gurugram,” Rana said.
He said though unemployment and agrarian distress were the major issues in the rural areas, the lack of infrastructure and the failing law and order situation bothered the urban voters the most.
Rana declared movable assets of Rs 29.27 crore and Rs 50.78 crore for him and his wife respectively, besides immovable property, including ancestral land and residential property, worth Rs 22 crore. In the income tax return for 2017-18, Rana declared the total annual income for him and his spouse to be around Rs 67 lakh each.
Before filing his papers, JJP’s Mehmood Khan addressed a meeting on Mehrauli Road that was attended by both his party workers and AAP workers. “We have a little over two weeks to ensure our party’s victory, but then the battle of Mahabharata too was fought in just 18 days and marked the victory of good over evil,” Khan told the workers.
Honoured with NRI Bharat Samman in 2011, Khan said that he had humble background, but reached IIM and was well aware of the problems of all sections of the society ranging from the rural population to the urban voters to the corporates. Khan declared moveable assets of Rs 3.80 crore and Rs 2.04 crore for him and his wife respectively, besides immovable assets worth over Rs 18 crore.
