Waghodia MLA in trouble for ‘threatening’ voters
Madhu Srivastava
The Congress has sought action against Waghodiya BJP MLA Madhu Srivastava for threatening voters during his speech in the Lok Sabha poll campaign in his constituency. Srivastava was seen threatening voters staying illegally in his constituency that he would fix them if they don’t vote for the BJP.
Taking serious objection to the threats, the Congress has urged the district election officer (DEO) to ensure that Srivastava stays away from campaigning in Vadodara Lok Sabha seat.

"We have also sought criminal complaint against Shrivastava for issuing such threats to the voters. It is violation of poll code of conduct," said Shailesh Amin, Vadodara Congress city unit senior vice-president.
Amin said that the language used by Shrivastava was clearly a threat issued to voters and with this kind of language and campaigning, free and fair elections cannot take place.

He pointed out that for years he had been taking care of those staying illegally and had given them water, light and other facilities. "But you are not paying taxes to the panchayat," he said.
Shalini Agrawal, district election officer said, "I have ordered the nodal office and assistant returning office to inquire into the incident. Action will be taken on the basis of the report," said The assembly seat is the stronghold of the legislator who has landed in trouble in the past too.
