campaign in Gujarat on the last day of campaigning. Voting for all 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state will take place on Tuesday.
The
Election Commission of India (ECI) has completed all arrangements for voting day. More than 4.5 crore registered voters will be eligible to vote and decide the fate of some 350 candidates on the 26 seats.
Both PM Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi have campaigned extensively across the state over the last few weeks.
While Modi concentrated on seats where the BJP is considered weak, Congress president Rahul Gandhi focused on Saurashtra and North Gujarat, where the Congress made gains in the 2017 state elections. A number of Union ministers campaigned for the BJP, while several top Congress leaders canvassed for their party in Gujarat.
PM Modi held seven public meetings last week alone, BJP President Amit Shah, who is the party candidate for the Gandhinagar seat, held several public meetings besides four roadshows in his constituency.
More than 1.50 lakh security personnel, including paramilitary forces, will be deployed for voting day on Tuesday, officials said. Some 3 lakh government employees will be on election duty. After district-wise scrutiny, the CEO has categorized 21,000 of 51,851 booths to be vulnerable.
