In Sanand, campaigning for his protege C J Chavda, the Congress candidate from Gandhinagar, Vaghela launched a scathing attack on the BJP.

Vaghela raked up the

Godhra

train carnage and subsequent communal riots, alleging that these events were planned to divide society for personal gain. He also alleged a political conspiracy in the Pulwama attacks and sought proof of the terrorist casualties caused in the Balakot airstrikes.

"For the last five years the BJP has been dividing the country into Hindu-Muslim, Patel, Kshatriya, Thakor and Koli," Vaghela said.

He said parties opposed to the BJP will win 325 seats and form government.

In Vadodara, he said a UPA 3 government would be formed at the Centre after the

Lok Sabha

election results are announced on May 23. Vaghela said the saffron outfit will find it difficult to touch even a simple majority of 272 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, Vaghela said.

Justifying his campaigning for select Congress candidates, Vaghela said he will campaign for his close aide

Bimal Shah

, the Congress candidate from Kheda.

He will also canvass in Vadodara and Patan.

"My aim, in the public interest, is to defeat the BJP. I am campaigning for the Congress and NCP where I have good terms with the candidate or as requested by the Congress," said Vaghela.
