HC junks PIL seeking addition to voters’ list

After the Election Commission of India (ECI) refused to update electoral rolls following the filing of nominations, the Gujarat high court on Monday dismissed a PIL seeking the inclusion of 1.25 lakh people in the

voters’ list

The petitioner, advocate K R Koshti, had filed a PIL earlier this month. The PIL was filed on the basis of news reports and sought HC directions to the chief electoral officer, the Ahmedabad district election officer, and booth-level officers to include the names of 1.25 lakh voters who had fulfilled formalities to register as voters and whose names had been deleted from the list.
