With both Congress and BJP top leadership building suspense over candidates for seats like Surat, Bardoli and Valsad, some aspirants are making frequent one-day visits to Delhi.
At least five ticket aspirants, including a former union minister and two term MP who has been taking night flights to Delhi from Surat and Vadodara to meet their respective Godfathers in Delhi.
Congress is likely to stick to its cut off date of March 28 for announcing the candidates.
Babu Rayka, city Congress chief told TOI, “It is true that many ticket aspirants went to meet party high command over a last few days. But all have been told that a panel of two names has been finalized and will be announced in a day or two.” He added, “We expect a Saurashtra Patidar candidate for Surat and one from the Chaudhary community for Bardoli seat.”
Dr Tushar Chaudhary, former union minister and aspirant for Bardoli seat who too paid visit to Delhi said, “We expect announcement after Congress working committee meeting.”
