‘Can pinpoint EVM flaw if I get one’

feels there is something wrong with the electronic voting machines (EVMs) that are being used in the

Lok Sabha

elections.


Stating that he is not in a position to determine the flaw right away, Pitroda says he would need to study the machines before he could pinpoint the problem.

“As an engineer, a technical expert, I am not satisfied with EVMs. I have not been able to pinpoint the flaw because I do not have an EVM. If someone gives me an EVM to study for a year, I can say something,” he said. The technocrat added, “You will have to understand the design, the software. But one thing is for sure, there is something wrong with them. We do not know what exactly is wrong with them.”

Pitroda alleged that PM Narendra Modi is trying to divert people’s attention from the real issues. “He paints people like me as ‘antinationals’ for daring to ask questions on real issues. Why does the PM not speak on real issues like job creation, education, the state of the economy, farmer distress,” he said.
