BJP against any move for separate Kashmir
BJP national president Amit Shah on Friday came down heavily on National Conference leader Omar Abdullah’s statements regarding a prime minister for Kashmir. Shah asked if Congress chief Rahul Gandhi agreed to this stance.
Shah was addressing a public meeting at Bodeli to campaign for BJP’s Chhota Udepur
“We will oppose this even if we are not in power. Even till the last BJP worker is alive, we will keep opposing any attempt to separate Kashmir,” he said adding that the Kashmir issue was being raked up for vote bank politics.
Shah said that the BJP manifesto talked about removing article 370 of the constitution while that of the Congress promised to remove the provisions for sedition. He added that when anti-national slogans were raised at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the BJP government took steps against such persons but Rahul Gandhi had supported those who raised the slogans calling it freedom of expression.
Shah also raised the issue of illegal immigrants in the country. He said that the government brought National Register of Citizens for this, but the Congress opposed it. “The Congress is not worried about the human rights of the country’s citizens but about the rights of illegal immigrants,” he said. Earlier in his speech, Shah also elaborated how the state had benefited a lot during the party’s rule in centre. He said that projects like bullet train, railway university, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, metros and others had come to the state. Shah pointed out that the thirteenth finance commission during the rule of the Congress government had allocated Rs 63,000crore to the state, but the fourteenth finance commission allocated Rs 3,10,985crore for the state.
