Lok Sabha elections: Kejriwal attacks Congress amid speculations of AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi
NEW DELHI: Amid ongoing speculations about an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday hit out at Congress and said the basis of formation of AAP was the unhappiness of people with the governance of Congress and BJP.
At a public meeting at Rohini, Kejriwal urged people to join the movement launched by AAP for full statehood for Delhi. Stating that people often ask him why does AAP fight so much with the Centre, he said it was because Delhi government used to run even when Sheila Dikshit was at the helm.
Kejriwal also addressed a public meeting in Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday.
Stating that people were not happy during Congress government, Kejriwal said, "The government schools were in bad condition under her (Shiela Dikshit) governance." He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised full statehood for Delhi in 2014 but did not give it. "You voted for Congress in 2009, they also lied to you on statehood," Kejriwal said.
Claiming that PM Modi was not able to handle Pakistan, Kejriwal advised the PM to take care of Pakistan and let Delhi government handle Delhi Police. "You are not able to handle Pakistan, how can you be expected to handle Delhi Police?," he asked.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said full statehood for Delhi would ensure admission to students scoring even 60% marks in Delhi's colleges.
