Alka Lamba finds name missing from voters’ list

made it public only on Friday when she got her name registered again.

. “On April 11, many people found their names deleted from voters’ list. My name was also missing. I applied online and got it added. My 21-year old son also applied online to get his name registered,” she said.

Lamba had registered as a voter when she was 18. “The deletion of name was like snatching away my right to vote. I took the development seriously and applied online on April 6. I got a call from the election office on Friday, informing me that my name has been added,” she said.

The MLA said she did not disclose the information immediately as she feared that those in “power” would stop her from getting enrolled again. She appealed to voters to check their names in the voters list before reaching polling booths.

For months before the elections, AAP has been alleging that names of 30 lakh voters were deleted by BJP as part of a conspiracy. AAP leaders had also called upon the chief election commissioner to raise the issue. AAP has also alleged that dalits, poorvanchalis and baniya community have been specifically targeted. EC and BJP have categorically denied the allegations.

On Thursday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that anti-BJP votes had been deleted at “an unprecedented scale”.
