Reacting sharply to Kejriwal saying that Dikshit is “not an important leader”,

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee

working president Rajesh Lilothia said Dikshit was popular and respected not just in Delhi but across the country.

Kejriwal had earlier told mediapersons in Vishakhapatnam when asked about Dikshit’s remarks that he had never approached her for an alliance: “We have met Rahul Gandhi. Dikshit is not that an important leader.”

Dikshit’s former cabinet colleague Ramakant Goswami hit out at AAP for opposing policies and principles of Congress despite “pleading” with it for alliance. Delhi Congress spokesperson Jitender Kumar Kochar alleged that Kejriwal had tried to “weaken” the Congress in the past with the support of RSS and BJP. He added that AAP fielded candidates in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh assembly elections last year to cut Congress’s votes but they all lost their security deposits.

Dikshit addressed a public meeting in west Delhi’s Madipur area and asked the people to make Congress victorious on all seven seats. She also asked the party workers to go door-to-door and make people aware of the failures of the BJP government at the Centre and three municipal corporations, and the AAP dispensation in Delhi.

Dikshit has been vehemently opposed to an alliance with AAP. In the past, Kejriwal had accused her of corruption several times. The bitterness between the two parties refuses to die down.
