Delhi: BJP marches for central health plan

NEW DELHI: Protesting against Aam Aadmi Party government's refusal to implement Ayushman Bharat, a health scheme launched by the Centre that promises free treatment to poor up to Rs 5 lakh annually, BJP took out a march on Saturday.
Leading the protest, which started from Jantar Mantra to Connaught Place, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari alleged that the AAP government had "willfully deprived" the poor the benefits of a revolutionary health scheme.
He said the scheme had been implemented in the central government-run hospitals in Delhi as well as various private hospitals, but was not available in Delhi government's health facilities.
In a separate development, AAP's SC/ST wing joint secretary and director of SC/ST, OBC, minority and handicapped financial and development corporation, Rupesh Kumar Mehra Balmiki, joined BJP on Saturday.
