NEW DELHI:

AAP chief convener Arvind Kejriwal

will hold several

roadshows between May 1 and May 7

in support of the candidates fielded by the party. The first roadshow will take place in east Delhi from where the party has fielded Atishi, credited by the government for revamping school education in the city.

Party sources said schedules had been prepared for some of the roadshows — each covering 4-5km — while discussions were on for others. “In the first roadshow, the CM will seek votes for Atishi,” a party source said. The second event will be organised in northeast Delhi on May 2.

The east and northeast seats have a sizeable population of minorities and are likely to see an intense three-way political battle. Atishi has been connecting with voters in her constituency for the last six months, but the dynamics have seen a sudden change with BJP fielding cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Congress going for veteran Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Atishi has made education a poll issue and is running a strong campaign to outperform her two rivals. Kejriwal will make several stops during the roadshow where he will connect with voters. East Delhi may actually see two roadshows by the CM, an AAP source said.

In northeast Delhi, Kejriwal is likely to address two roadshows in favour of party candidate Dilip Pandey who is pitted against three-time CM Sheila Dikshit and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari. The roadshow is likely to begin from Shastri Park and cover Seelampur, Ghonda and Karawal Nagar. In New Delhi constituency, Kejriwal may hold a roadshow on May 3. The respective candidates and senior party leaders will be a part of all these roadshows.
