Chandrababu Naidu protest threat to EC over ‘unfair AP polls’
AMRAVATI: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday accused the Election Commission of making a “mockery of democracy” on the issue of “mishandling of elections” in the state. He said he would go to New Delhi on Saturday to protest in front of the poll panel’s office if it didn’t come out with a “convincing answer”.
“EC owes an explanation to people of Andhra on unfair and improper conduct of elections. We are going to Delhi on Saturday,” he said.
Naidu said he was confident of winning the elections despite “large-scale violence, disturbance and malfunctioning of EVMs”. He alleged EC had failed to ensure peaceful polling as it transferred senior officials at YSR Congress’ behest. “Jagan Reddy and BJP thanked the EC despite people facing so much trouble. EVMs might have been tampered in the guise of repairs. It exposed the unholy alliance,” said Naidu.
Expressing displeasure at EC’s response to the situation, he said, “The CEO himself could not cast his vote in the first instance. Isn’t it a shame for EC?”
He said TDP would file a review petition in the Supreme Court on counting VVPATs.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has leveled serious allegations like mishandling of elections, mockery of democracy and tampering of Electronic Voting Machines against the Election Commission and, therefore, has demanded a convincing answer from it and threatened of staging a protest in front of the Poll Panel if it fails to do so. His claims of winning the elections hands down despite all the drawbacks cited above are inconsistent with the allegations against the Election Commission. He further contemplates filing review petition in the Supreme Court on counting of VVPATs, which reflects his fears of imminent defeat at the recently held polls.Read allPost comment
