HYDERABAD: YSRCP leader YS
Jaganmohan
Reddy on Tuesday alleged complete breakdown of
law and order
in
Andhra Pradesh and misuse of police machinery by
chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu
and sought governor ESL Narasimhan’s intervention in setting things in order. Jaganmohan Reddy met the governor at Raj Bhavan in the city and also sought that the governor take control over the state secretariat as Naidu was allegedly at work to remove all evidence of his wrongdoings in financial scams.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the governor, he said he had pointed out huge amounts were being sanctioned to contractors who were close to Naidu misusing his position despite the fact that only a vote-on-account budget had been presented for the state.
Jaganmohan Reddy also asked for more para military forces from the Centre to be posted at all the strongrooms where EVMs were stored and local police personnel removed from guarding duties. He said live CCTV from the strongrooms should be provided only to the Chief Electoral Officer in the state and the Chief Election Commission in Delhi, and not to district collectors.
The YSRCP leader said Chandrababu Naidu had misused police machinery on the day of polls and also after the elections. “Instead of filing cases against the accused in the violent incidents, police is filing cases against victims,” he said charging TDP leaders with poll violence. He questioned why speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao had not been booked by the police though he stormed into a polling booth and bolted its door creating havoc. Similarly, two YSRCP MLAs were also attacked by TDP supporters but no cases have been booked against them, he said.
Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that 40 police personnel belonging to a particular caste were given out of turn promotions before elections and posted at places where they could benefit the TDP. He found fault with the postings of some SPs too.
“Chandrababu Naidu is like a cinema villain. He is staging a drama,” Jaganmohan Reddy said commenting about the AP CM’s allegation that there was something wrong with the EVMs in the elections. “Since he saw the tide in favour of the YSRCP, he is finding fault with EVMs. Did he not win in the 2014 polls with EVMs? Did we then attribute out loss to EVMs?” Jagan questioned. He said there was 80 per cent of polling in AP and voters could know from VVPATs who they voted for.
The YSRCP leader also poked fun at Chandrababu Naidu for commenting about EVMs. “Naidu is one such person who can claim that he taught PV Sindhu how to play badminton. If she wins, he claims credit and if she loses, he will blame the coach,” he said. “Naidu can even claim that he invented computers. He will blame Bill Gates for not being able to press a key properly,” he commented.
