An intense coldwave in Uttarakhand is making election campaigning an uphill task for candidates in the fray. Amid Covid-19 restrictions, Political parties have already scaled down political campaigns in the elections. Candidates of all parties in Uttarakhand are finding door-to-door campaigns difficult as most of the areas in the state are hit by snowfall and rain. Continuous snow has partially cut off many villages in the hills. Badrinath, Kedarnath and the upper reaches of Uttarakhand is under snow. For the last several days, candidates have been contacting people from the village to village using umbrellas and wearing gumboots. This time the weather is worse than usual. The snowfall is causing a lot of trouble. It is taking them twice the time than the normal and sometimes more to reach villages. But party workers are also enjoying the campaign in snow.
