Tripura deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, CM Manik Saha richest poll contestants in Tripura: ADR

AGARTALA: Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma is the richest poll contestant in Tripura with assets worth Rs 15.58 crore followed by CM Manik Saha having Rs 13.90 crore. The poorest three candidates have as little as Rs 700 to Rs 2000, and are contesting as Independents, revealed a report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) on Monday.


It said 17% crorepatis (millionaires) are in the fray this time, five percent more than the last assembly election. Among the major parties, 17 (31%) of BJP, six candidates (46%) of Congress and 7 (16%) of CPM have declared assets valued more than Rs 1 crore.
