Giant-killer beats CM, CM-hopeful
BJP's Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy (KVR) has emerged as a giant-slayer. He defeated both incumbent chief minister KCR and CM hopeful Revanth Reddy of Congress in a high-voltage battle in Kamareddy. KVR emerged victorious by a margin of 6,741 votes over his nearest rival KCR. The 53-year-old businessman reached out strongly to voters in the last five years and lent his support to the farmers' agitation against the Kamareddy draft master plan.
City still pink: Greater Hyderabad region was a face-saver for BRS. Of the 24 assembly seats in GHMC limits, 16 seats went in favour of the pink party. Congress scored a duck, with even former Indian cricket captain Azharuddin losing from Jubilee Hills.
