Virudhunagar: Officials in a static surveillance team checked the vehicles in Puducherry chief minister
N Rangasamy's convoy as well as the car of state finance minister Thangam Thennarasu at Aviyur checkpost in separate incidents on the Madurai-Tuticorin national highway here on Thursday.
Official sources said that Rangasamy was travelling to the Tiruchendur temple in Tuticorin district to offer his prayers. When the convoy was going on the highway, the vehicles were stopped at Aviyur checkpost for a routine check. Police officials in the convoy initially objected to the vehicle check. However, after officials in the surveillance team explained that they were performing their duty, the police personnel permitted to check the vehicles.
Rangasamy remained seated in the front seat of his car and cooperated with the officials who checked the car. The vehicles left for Tiruchendur after the checking process.
Subsequently, the surveillance team also stopped and checked the car in which Thennarasu was travelling.
