BENGALURU: On the eve of the conclusion of the high-octane campaigning for the Karnataka assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday hopped onto the back seat of a scooter alongside a delivery boy in Bengaluru, engaging in a conversation centered around critical issues such as minimum wages and corruption.


He discussed the far-reaching implications of the corruption-ridden '40% Commission Sarkara' associated with the BJP and the Congress party's commitment to its five Guarantees.


The Congress leader had a candid conversation with gig workers and delivery partners of Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit etc at the iconic Airlines Hotel in the city.


Over a cup of coffee and masala dosa, he discussed the lives of delivery workers, lack of stable employment and rising prices of basic commodities.

The reasons these young people took on gig jobs and the conditions of their employment were also things he listened to.

Bengaluru alone has 2,00,000+ people doing gig jobs. The Congress party has made specific promises for them in their Manifesto, mainly:

1. To set up a gig workers' welfare board with a corpus of Rs 3,000 crore

2. To ensure minimum hourly wages for gig workers and other workers in the unorganised sector
