Hold hands in show of unity

Putting up a show of unity as campaigning entered its final leg for the Haryana assembly elections, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and his sister Priyanka, who is the Congress general secretary, on Monday got former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja to hold hands before embarking on the Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra from Naraingarh in Ambala district.

'Haryana govt is the first step'

"Haryana government is the first step. There will be change here, but when the government comes in Delhi, I want to know how much money is going into the pockets of the poor and how much money is coming out of their pockets, and I am not going to leave this...All the small parties that are contesting polls in Haryana, are BJP's party. Their remote control is in their hands. The fight is between BJP and Congress. It is a fight of ideology. On one side there is justice, and on the other side there is injustice," Rahul said in the rally.

'What was done to our wrestlers?'

"What was done to our wrestlers? They were made to sit on the road, they kept protesting. The Prime Minister did not have even have five minutes to meet them. And then you all saw what happened in the Olympics recently. You are the people who fight, you have self-respect...," the Congress leader said.(PTI Photo)

'What has BJP done for people of Haryana?'

Addressing the rally in Naraingarah, Ambala, Priyanka said, "The farmers, athletes and soldiers have kept the respect of the entire country high. But the BJP has always insulted them. In the last 10 years, the farmers, despite whatever they have done for the country have been lathi-charged and treated badly. They were not given their MSPs. What has the BJP done for the people of Haryana? You all know how our wrestlers were treated. They were made to sit on the road and they kept protesting. The hardworking children of Haryana have not got anything."
