Gujarat Assembly elections 2022: BJP announces slew of subsidies for fishermen and the fishing industry

The BJP government in Gujarat is going all out to woo the fishing community in the state ahead of the all-important Assembly polls. The government has announced increase in quota of diesel and kerosene for the community. Subsidy on Diesel is up to Rs 15 per litre. Subsidy on kerosene has been hiked from Rs 25 to Rs 50 per litre. The fishing industry in Gujarat directly and indirectly employs about 1.5 crore people. The state has about 29,000 registered fishing boats.
