(GSM), the breakaway RSS faction ofSubhash Velingkar
, and Shiv Sena to form a grand alliance, Mahayuti in order to counter BJP in the state. The alliance was formally announced by Dhavalikar who declared Velingkar as the convener of the alliance. Velingkar, in turn, announced Dhavalikar as its chief ministerial candidate. Dhavalikar has, in the past, requested Goans who have acquired Portuguese nationality to renounce it to “protect the interests of the state, since they are the sons of the (Indian) soil”. Dhavalikar has announced that if Mahayuti was elected to power, "we will withdraw the grant in-aid to Church-run English medium primary schools". Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha manch (BBSM), parent body of GSM, stands to change the medium of instruction in schools of Goa to regional languages, if the state’s identity is to be ‘retained and preserved’. As per the seat-sharing agreement, MGP will contest 30 seats, GSM six including Siolim,Panaji
, Mayem, Shakali, Curchorem and Velim and Shiv Sena four, which includes Saligao, Tivim, Mormugao and Cuncolim.
