My NIA comment to Hagrama Mohilary not a threat: Himanta Sarma
NEW DELHI: BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has denied threatening the Bodoland People's Front chief Hagrama Mohilary in his reply to Election Commission.Sarma said his NIA remarks meant that the investigation can be handed over to the central agency as the place of occurrence of crime falls near international as well as the inter-state border. The Assam leader was referring to an investigation into the movements of some miscreants equipped with sophisticated arms ammunition and explosives, in a Scorpio vehicle at village Nasraibil area under Soraibill BOP under Gossaigaon PS.
On Friday, the EC barred Sarma from campaigning for the next 48 hours in the ongoing assembly elections."It has come to the knowledge of the undersigned herein that the investigation of the case, progressed so far, has indicated close connection and nexus of Sri Hagrama Mahilary and his party with the nabbed accused persons," said Sarma in his letter, a copy of which he tweeted early Saturday morning.(With agency inputs)
