A police officer said the TMC activist was attacked by bike-borne assailants and suffered a

bullet

wound on his chest. He was admitted to Tamluk Hospital.

The TMC candidate from Khejuri Ranjit Mondal blamed CPI(M) for the

attack

and said the Left was trying to unleash terror after seeing the groundswell of

support

for the TMC in the entire Nandigram-Khejuri belt.

The CPI(M) alleged the attack was due to an

internal squabble

of the TMC.
