Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy has tendered a public apology for his name coming up in the Narada sting op video. "I am very sad and I feel ashamed at the way my name has come up in the scandal," Roy said at a Trinamool poll meeting on Friday evening.
He did not dismiss the tapes as "doctored", and left it to the courts to take a final call on the issue.
Till Saturday night, the Trinamool brass was silent on Roy's comments, though it takes prima facie cognisance of the Narada tapes.
Differing from his other colleagues, who have rejected the tapes outright, Roy said, "Mark the timing. The tapes have been released before the 2016 assembly polls. My simple answer is that the matter is pending with court. Let the court hold an inquiry and pass orders. We will all abide by it." TNN
