Not pulling out, Bose clarifies

Kolkata: BJP candidate from Bhowanipore Chandra Kumar Bose clarified on Thursday that he was not planning to withdraw from the seat, quashing rumours that he has called upon voters to support jote candidate Deepa Das Mushi.

Addressing a rally attended by BJP national president Amit Shah at Northern Park on Wednesday, Bose had goofed up while trying to say that Left supporters have sided with him.

"What I meant was that all supporters of the Left were going to vote for BJP since they were unhappy with the Congress-CPM alliance. Due to a time constraint, I may not have been able to frame my statement in the right way which led to the misunderstanding," said Bose. Reacting to CPM leader Surjya Kanta Mishra's comment that BJP should withdraw from Bhowanipore to prevent a split of opposition votes, Bose said it was 'immature' on his part to advocate such a move.
