CEO of Punajb V K Singh, who visited East Midnapore on Sunday, held a meeting with the district administrative officials and the political leaders at Nadigram block development office, but the representatives of CPM were allegedly not present. When asked, the CPM leaders who were standing outside the BDO office, said that they didn't get any intimation form the administration.

"We told Singh that there were several supporters from our party who have not been able to return to Nandigram yet. They cannot cast their votes," said CPM leader Niranjan Shee. Singh immediately asked the district police to make sure that all villagers can come back home before the election.

East Midnapore is not alone, several other districts too are under lens. Sources in the commission said that the districts include Birbhum, Murshidabad, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Malda and Hooghly. "There are two aspects where we are putting our thrust - execution of non-bailable arrest warrants. We want to ensure one more thing - the commission should get all the information without any distortion," a team member said.

According to sources in the commission, in districts like Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Birbum and Murshidabad several people with political background have joined the booth-level awareness groups (BAG). "We have information that BAGs functioning in areas like Labhpur, Nanoor, Dubarjpur and Bijpur in Birbhum, Kanchrapara in Nadia and Arambag and Tarakeshwar in Hooghly have political people in them which was not the poll panel's idea," said a source.
